故事简介Synopsis
自贡,中国西南省份四川的一座内陆城市,因房地产业的彻底崛起而命运陡转。
罗亮,一个替房地产老板开车和跑腿的人,快三十岁了,骑着破摩托,住着老房子,满足于做别人的附庸,被知识分子家庭出身的老婆耻笑,虽然他也有个梦想——衣锦还乡。
Due to the sharp rise
in real estate prices, drastic changes have occurred in Zigong, an inland city
in Sichuan Province in Southwest China.
Luo Liang, almost thirty,
is a chauffeur who runs errands for a real estate boss. He rides a broken motorcycle
and lives in a shabby house. Although he is sneered at by a wife who came from
a family of intellectuals, he is content with being somebody's vassal. Still, he
dreams of returning home with fame and money.

statement
片名来自邓小平的一句话:“不管黑猫白猫,只要抓住老鼠的就是好猫”。
在这样一个价值判断之下,一幕幕时代与众人的悲剧正不断地上演。人与猫一样,是附属的、卑微的、被摆弄的,工具而已,无论老板、“狗腿子”、农民,还是钉子户。。。
猫,也很贴合当前的时代精神,它一种非常“和谐”的动物。因为我们的政府一直在说:中国人正在建造一个“和谐社会”。
我一边在剪辑一边在看、在想——生活真的就如我所描绘的这样吗?是不是有点失度?有点超现实?但很遗憾,生活基本上就是我所描绘的这样,甚至也许我还观察、思考、表达得不够敏锐、彻底和坦率!电影里很多场景与对话是我亲身经历或者亲耳听闻的,拍出来用以纪念我在四川地区这七年以来的生活。
The title is originally
part of a quote from Deng Xiaoping: "As long as the cat can catch a mouse, it is
a good cat no matter whether it is a black cat or a white cat."
In a society dominated
by these values, tragedies will be continuous. The value of a human being is the
same as that of the cat; a humble accessory or tool to be used as it may, whether
that be as a boss, a henchman, a peasant or some other menial function.
The cat, a joyful and
harmonious animal, also fits well with the spirits of the times. Our government
has always said that the Chinese people are building a harmonious society.
When I was editing
the film, I could not help thinking, "Is life really the way I describe? Is the
film exaggerated or surreal?" Unfortunately, life is just what I described in the
film. It is even possible that I have not observed, reflected or expressed myself
thoroughly or genuinely enough. Many of the scenes and conversations in the film
were experienced or overheard by me when I lived in Zigong. I took notes and made
those notes into this film in memory of the seven years I spent in this town.
