Genesis
11:27—12:8. Go
from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will
show you.
God
said to Abram, “Go.” And what did Abram do? Abram went. It was as simple
as that. He didn’t know where he was going. Childless, he didn’t have a clue how
his descendents could become a great nation. But still he got up and went.
So
often that is exactly what we need to do. Be it a job, a relationship, an attitude,
or just getting out of bed or going to church, we find can find ourselves “stuck”
in one place. And the first step is to go.
One
of my favorite Dr. Seuss books is Oh, The Places You’ll Go! In its Dr. Seuss
kind of way, it speaks of the journey of life: the times when you succeed, the
times when you get lost, the times when you are flying high, and the times when
you are down in the dumps. It speaks of the misery of the “waiting place,” where
everyone is just waiting for life to happen. The book ends with:
You’re
off to Great Places!
Today
is your day!
Your
mountain is waiting.
So…get
on your way!
Often
we need to follow Abram’s example and simply get going.

我微笑,不代表我没有落泪;
我离开,不代表我不想留下来;
我坚强,不代表我不需要依赖;
我忘记,不代表我们没有曾经相爱。 |
